In today’s world where everything is just one click away. Social networking sites have become the need of the present world. Internet certainly has immensely impacted the life of everyone and it goes without saying that the youth makes the major proportion of the internet population. Too much use of social networking sites is making individuals dumb. Thus, today’s youth are engaged in many activities. Social networking is a medium through which we can learn things broadcast our knowledge, experience, and views. We can either misuse this or use it for a better life. All depends upon us and the choice is ours. These networking sites are changing the mindsets of the youths of this generation.

Negative Effects of Internet on Youth Addiction

Today’s youth are quite adept at using technology for all purposes. In addition to general and necessary usage, youngsters are now experiencing difficulty in letting go of gadgets which are connected to the dynamic internet service. Constantly playing games online all night are actions not unheard of. The internet is taking over the minds of the youth, who seem to be unable to function at all without it. It is increasingly becoming an unhealthy habit which needs to be curbed consciously.

Personality issues

Virtual establishment of networks and relations has led to personality issues in many youngsters. They fear face to face conversation, and feel more comfortable when interacting through a screen. Trust, self- confidence, and happiness are not found on a virtual page. Insomnia and insecurity are a result of excessive use of internet.

Avoiding playing outdoors games

While spending hours on the internet, youngsters are left with little time for other tasks, especially healthy physical activity. Playing online games has become more in demand than going out to play a proper sport. It seems like doing household chores too are a burden to them. This not only wastes their precious time, but also hinders physical and mental development. Brain disorders, self- esteem issues, obesity are some of the issues that can be triggered by excessive use of technology and restriction in physical activity.

Change of Life style

Comparing the youth with the previous generation and we all know for a fact that they are far more happier and healthier than we are. Because this generation youths only depend on easy work because of new Technology they are getting lazy to do outdoor work. Getting busy at games in their cell phone made them learn nothing, they have forgotten how to talk with their parents, elders and relatives.

Suffering Relationships

Relationships with friends and family members may suffer if the youths are spending more time gaming than he is talking to or going out with loved ones. The On-Line Gamers Anonymous website notes that gaming may be negatively affecting the youth’s life if he/she only wants to talk about games, lies to cover up the amount of time he spends playing, and argues with you over his excessive gaming.

Poor Performance

Long hours playing games can negatively affect the youth’s performance in school if they preoccupied with mobile games. Youths can fail to work at their optimum level because they get exhausted from a late night of game playing.

Skipping of Church

Internet and technology in and of themselves aren’t bad; they become a problem when technology becomes a substitute for human interaction. These days, many youths are asking the question: “Why go to church when I can watch it online?” The lack of physical presence affects the people who do show up, and surely affects the service itself. There is an obvious lack of community when people aren’t present. The Effects of Social Media has brought many changes in youth’s life.

It is therefore important for the youths to understand both the negative and positive effects of internet so that we can respect the principles of our religious ideologies and maintain our dignity as human beings. Internet gives you the only thing that you have requested. Bad or good depends on you. Choose wisely it is we, who can make it look like a blessing or a curse.
