A book titled “Identity struggle of the people of Israel as alien in the Pentateuch – A Northeast Indian tribal reading,” authored by Dr. Imsu Longchar, associate professor and published by Christian World Imprint New Delhi was released at Trinity Theological College (TTC), Thahekhu, on August 5.

In a press release, assistant librarian, TTC Mughalu T Kinimi stated that while releasing the book, Rev. Dr. Kavito Zhimo, principal TTC appreciated the work of the author and encouraged other faculty to strive for a mark in academic scholarship along with the responsibility of teaching.

In a brief highlight, Dr. Imsu Longchar said that the book attempts to present a systematic analysis of the passages that deals with “resident alien” in the ancestral narrative by using ideological approach engaged in exegetical analysis in order to expose textual aggression in a particular biblical passage.

It may be noted that the book puts prime focus on the identity struggle of the people of Israel as alien in the Pentateuch, and the author brings up the opening towards others, particularly Israel’s concern for the alien as a great witness for her universalistic attitude of the Pentateuch. Using Hermeneutical tools, he makes comparisons of the ancient Israel laws concerning aliens with the tribal communities North East India.
