Three-wheeler banned in Mon

Members of District Planning & Development Board (DPDB), Mon after thorough discussion on the safety measures of roads and vehicles and as per the standing order of the government has decided to ban plying of three wheeler /autorichshaws in the district.

The decision was taken at the monthly meeting of DPDB held at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner on July 18 under the chairmanship of Eshak Konyak, MLA and chairman DPDB, and N. Thongwang Konyak, MLA, DIPR reported.

On the plastic free awareness campaign in the district, the house discussed alternative ways of replacing plastic. The house also resolved to make all offices under Mon to be tobacco free zone.

Earlier, chairing the meeting, DC and vice chairman DPDB Mon, Thavaseelan K welcomed the new DPDB chairman Eshak Konyak, Thongwang and the members to the meeting.

During the meeting, the house discussed on the creation of Tapi Block which is to be re-christened as Mon Block (North) as  approved in the last DPDB meeting and further recommended to the concerned department.

Under the education sector, the house approved and recommended for upgradation of Amity School Lapa Lampong (Tizit), upgradation of post for Government Middle School Sowa village and grant-in-aid for Construction of play ground to Ying-Angh School at Aboi. After thorough discussion on the condition and the need of infrastructure at TB centre Mon, construction of District TB centre building at District Hospital was approved and recommended to the concerned department.

On the youth and sport sector, the house felt the need for good infrastructure of ground and sports complex in the district and the house recommended for construction of Astro turf football ground and construction of multipurpose hall in Mon.
