Break free (Tobacco Cessation Clinic) in collaboration with State Tobacco Control Cell, National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) inaugurated the clinic Tuesday, at Radiotherapy department, Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) Dimapur.

The inauguration was initiated by the collaborative effort of the community health department and radiotherapy department.

At the programme, welcome address was delivered by CIHSR, medical superintendent Dr Clement Momin, where in his address he stressed on the need of such facility due to high prevalence of tobacco consumers that has led to many diseases. 

NTCP state nodal office Dr C Tetseo in his address mentioned about the importance of tobacco cessation in the hospital which will extend help towards eradicating the harmful effects of tobacco consumption. He informed that NTCP will also be sending a counsellor once a week for helping out in assessing and follow-up of the patients. 

Dr. Shirley Leivon, mentioned about the facilities available in Break Free (Tobacco Cessation Clinic) which will include free education and counselling on tobacco, carbon monoxide (CO) smoke analyser, oral health screening and Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). 

Later, vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Rohan and benediction was offered by Dr. Viu Meru.  The inaugural programme started with a word of prayer by chaplain. The programm was lead by nurse Ajung.
