As the 14-day total lockdown in Kohima is set to end on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, the Kohima District Task Force (DTF) for COVID-19 on August 7 decided to not extend the lockdown any further.

At a meeting held here on Friday, the task force discussed the situation and decided to lift the total lockdown measures with effect from Saturday.

It may be mentioned that the lockdown was imposed in Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) areas from July 25.

In an order, Kohima deputy commissioner (DC) and DTF chairman Gregory Thejawelie stated that the June 18 order specifying market opening days and timings would continue to remain in force under Kohima municipal areas/jurisdiction.

As per the June 18 order, commercial establishments would be allowed to remain open on all weekdays– Monday to Saturday – from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Odd- Even system

The deputy commissioner further stated that the odd-even system for movement of vehicles as per the July 15 order would remain in force till August 31.

Odd days: Vehicles with registration numbers ending with odd numbers (e.g. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9) would be allowed to ply on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Even days: Vehicles with registration numbers ending with even numbers (e.g. 2, 4, 6, 8, 0) would be allowed to ply on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
