Tourist resort under Swadesh Darshan inaugurated at Phesama

Union minister of State for tourism KJ Alphons inaugurated a tourist resort under Swadesh Darshan Scheme at Phesama near Kisama, the heritage village, on Wednesday.

The Development of Tribal Circuit: Peren-Kohima-Wokha was the first phase sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Tourism in November 2015 for Rs 97.36 crore.

Alphons inaugurated the resort in the presence of chief minister Neiphiu Rio, tourism, art & culture adviser H Khehovi Yepthomi, senior government officials and others. 

Meanwhile, when contacted, Tourism executive engineer Thungdemo Patton informed Nagaland Post that the tourist resort at Phesama near the heritage village was constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 3.5 crore.

He said for the first phase, the project was taken up for Peren, Kohima and Wokha and the total cost of the project was Rs 97 crore.

Patton said the project in Peren district (New Peren and Benreu villages) was taken up under the theme “Eco-Tourism”, Kohima (Phesama, Kisama, Kigwema and Viswema) under the theme “The Heritage” and in Wokha (Wokha Town and Doyang) under the theme “Water sports and Naga cuisine”.

Under the project, he said it has developed facilities like residential cottage, eco log huts, open air theatre, tribal rejuvenation centre, cafeteria, helipad, tourist interpretation centre, wayside amenities, last mile connectivity, public conveniences, multipurpose hall, nature trails, trekking routes etc.

Patton claimed that all the projects in Peren and Wokha were almost completed, except for the civil and electrical works, adding that the tourism department was contemplating to inaugurate them by January 2019.
