Training & demonstration on Mushroom cultivation

ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland centre and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur organised a one day Mushroom cultivation training & demonstration program on February 8, at 9th NAP Hq. Saijang, Peren.

ICAR, Nagaland centre, Jharnapani, Plant Protection SMS, E. Lireni Kikon, in a press release stated that she and Dr. Rajesha G. Scientist (Plant Pathology) coordinated the training program. The training was conducted for families of 9th IR staff, as had been requested by them.

Dr. Rajesha trained the participants on scope, importance and medicinal values of the mushroom fungus. He also dwelt on different types of mushroom commercially cultivated in India. E. Lireni Kikon spoke on organic Oyster mushroom cultivation, economics, insect pest and disease management followed by a practical demonstration session. Dr. L. Babita Devi ACTO, Animal Science KVK, Peren also delivered a lecture on Backyard Poultry farming and elaborated in detail the importance of using improved breeds in backyard system.

The Staff Family Welfare Club president, Bideno expressed gratitude on behalf of the trainees for the training program and was hopeful of more programs in the days to come. Mushroom spawns and polypropylene bags were distributed to the trainees at the end of the training. Altogether, 50 female staff from the campus attended the training program.
