Training on bio-medical waste in Longleng

A training program on Bio-Medical Waste Management (BMWM) was organised and conducted by Nagaland Health Project (NHP) under District Health Society (DHS) Longleng for health workers of DH Longleng, Sakshi block, Yongyah PHC, Yachem PHC and Tamlu PHC from March 19 to 23. 

A press release from NHP Longleng district facilitator, Richard Thong stated that the training focused on the Bio-Medical Rules 2016, and the roles and responsibilities of district and block monitoring committees. 

Participants were trained on BMW segregation, treatment, transportation and disposal and also on using colour coded bins and their significance. Hands on demonstrations on using Personnel Protective Equipments (PPE) for health workers were shown for the trainees. 

Resource person for the training were Richard Thong and Viroli Sangtam, district program manager. Altogether 93 staff attended the training program.
