Training on ‘development of experts’

Two-day training on “development of experts” in Nagaland organized by department of Industries and Commerce in partnership with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) concluded here on Friday. 

The resource persons on the second day were Assistant General Manager (AGM), APEDA, Guwahati, Sunita Rai. 

Plant Protection Officer (PPO), Central Institute of Pest Management Centre, Dimapur Mukesh Babu and Financial Education Trainer, Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chenio Lotha. Participants comprised of officers from various agri and allied government departments.

The training was focused to familiarize and impart knowledge and methods involved in the domain of export products with an over-arching goal for the participants and trainees to learn and further assist and guide progressive farmers and prospective entrepreneurs to increase the level of export in the State.

In the first session, Rai, shared on the topics on export quality and requirements of the importing countries, including registration with APEDA; Overview of Organic farming vis-a-vis North-East & marketing opportunities in domestic and export markets.

In the second session, Mukesh shared on the various procedures and information on plant quarantine requirements for export. While Chenio Lotha shared about various topics on financial education in the third session. 

The training concluded with a closing remark by joint director of Industries & Commerce, T. Moawati Ao.
