Training on floriculture launched in Kiphire

Livelihood & Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP) implemented by the Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS) Tuensang, sponsored by the NABARD launched the first batch of seven-day long training on floriculture on October 14. 

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Shisarenla Aier subject matter specialist (Horticulture) KVK, Tuensang imparted knowledge on management and raising of nursery. Analyzing on floriculture in Nagaland she highlighted on weakness, strength and opportunities for acceleration of floriculture in Nagaland. 

Thungti Chang coordinator (ECS) Tuensang, delivered the keynote address and encouraged the women folk to fully utilize the training to have a sustainable livelihood through floriculture industry. A total of 30 group members from different SHGs participated on the first day. This training will include both theory and practical. 

The skill upgradation training is provided in batches of 25-30 members and covers agri & allied activities as well as rural off-farm sector activities. LEDP will not only facilitate promotion of sustainable livelihoods but also derive full advantage from promotional assistance. NABARD will provide grant support for skill upgradation programmes, establishment of demonstration unit and need based critical infrastructure.

Through this programme another 120 progressive pig rarer of SHG’s members will be covered for the next 4 batches of 30 members in each batch.
