Training on ICDP in Kohima, Kiphire

The first phase of training programmes on Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP) 2018-19 was held in Kohima and Kiphire on Tuesday. 

In Kohima, the two-day training programme was organised by ICDP Kohima at Angamimiapfü Mechü krotho (AMK) building Kohima.
Deputy registrar of co-operative society, Anthony Angami, who is also in-charge of Kohima district and chief project officer, said that ICDP is a centrally sponsored scheme under National Co-operative Development Corporation (NCDC). 
He said ICDP scheme is a four years project and five districts- Kohima, Peren, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire were included in the first phase.  He said the project will cover all major agri & allied activities like farming livestock, weaving, netting, marketing and others.
On the sideline of the programme, Angami said a total of Rs. 55 crores has been sanctioned for the five districts. 
He said in the first phase, one pick up Van (Tata mobile) was given to Zubza Veitho industrial cooperative society and in the second phase five pickup vans will be given to other societies. 
He said that under this project the department has planned to set up cold storage for the farmers.
Deputy registrar sub registrar of cooperative society, Vikosielie  Nagi in his address explained to the participants about the governing system, members system and operating system in the cooperative society. He advised the members for proper planning and budgeting by maintaining a proper register.
Agriculture inspector, Meciesunu Sakrie interacted with the participants related to agri and allied matter in the programme. Agriculture officer Akuno Zao also attended the programme.
In the second session, deputy director poultry, Dr. Elizabeth and deputy director chief veterinary officer, Dr. Pusazono spoke on the issue related to animal and veterinary husbandry for the farmers.
The programme was attended by chairmen, secretaries and board members from 20 various societies of Kohima district.
It may be mentioned that under this project the selected beneficiaries will be receiving Rs. 2 lakh (minimum) to Rs. 99 lakh per group based on capacity and functioning of the group. Altogether 41 societies were selected from the five districts.
Kiphire: In Kiphire, the training was held under the theme “team work and work ethics” at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire.  According to DIPR, the programme was graced by SDO (C) Hq, Nyempo Walling as the special guest.  Nyempo, in her short speech, said that after Kiphire was declared as aspirational district many developmental activities have taken place. She therefore, urged the district to show positive challenge to other districts. 
She also encouraged the registered societies to repay their loan in time and create good reputation in order to avail loans in future. Nyempo also requested the Cooperation department to keep in touch with the district administration to work hand in hand.
Joint registrar of Cooperative Societies HQ & Monitoring Officer ICDP Kiphire, Temjen Longkumer said that cooperative movement started in 1904. He said that the cooperative work was for the poor people to establish their livelihood and encouraged the registered societies under Kiphire district to start their work with small amount to develop their societies. Chief project officer said that ICDP was seed money and the societies should judiciously use it to repay their loan in time for their future developmental activities. 
He also urged them not to stop their project half way. Chairman of Hurung Village, Chemlongse encouraged the societies to be honest and dedicated with what they have been given by the government.
The welcome address was delivered by Lipoknungsang while vote of thanks was tendered by development officer ICDP, Athonlo Thyug. The function was presided by development officer ICDP, Tsipongse Anar. The training session will continue till July 10.
