Training on low cost preservation unit

One-day training and distribution of materials for low cost preservation unit under mission for integrated development of Horticulture, was held at state horticulture nursery, 4th Mile Dimapur, where, 204 beneficiaries from across 11 districts participated. 

A press release from department of Horticulture, stated that delivering a short speech, director of Horticulture, R Elithung Lotha, outlined all schemes implemented by the department. He added that since there was no commercial fruit and vegetable processing unit in the state, the department was focussing on promoting home scale preservation, especially for women entrepreneurs of the state. 
He further encouraged participants to judiciously utilize machinery and equipments provided by the department and to come up with quality products, which could be sold in the market. 
Deputy director, Dr. Moa Walling, exhorted farmers in reviving farmer sector in Nagaland and to rededicate themselves in the production of various horticulture produces. He also suggested that home scaled processed products competition should be included in the Hornbill festival, so as to encourage entrepreneurs to come up with quality products. During technical session, resource person, deputy director, Meyasashi, demonstrated on the preparation of pineapple and orange squash. Materials under low cost preservation were distributed to the beneficiaries.
