Training on marketing and value chain

Three-day training programme on marketing & value chain development of horticulture crops was jointly organized by Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland and Department of Horticulture, Sikkim at SICUN, Assam Lingzey, East Sikkim from September 26 to 28, sponsored by National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Jaipur.

A press release from CIH Nagaland stated that, speaking at the inaugural function, chief guest N K Gurung, principal director, Horticulture Sikkim emphasized the need to further strengthen the marketing system to benefit the farming community. He also encouraged the participants to contribute towards the betterment of the farmers.
Dr. N K Patle, dy. commissioner (Hor.), DAC&FW & director i/c CIH, Nagaland graced the inaugural programme as special guest. In his address, he highlighted the programmes and activities of the institute and stressed the importance of understanding the concepts and business formats of marketing and value chain to create proper linkage. 
Earlier, Tilak Gajmer, addl. director (INM), Horticulture Sikkim welcomed the dignitaries, resource persons and participants in the training programme. Brief remark was given by Jagdish Pradhan, addl. director (PMKSY/Marketing/EAP), Horticulture Sikkim.
Resource persons from various organizations like spices board, CAEPHT, CAU, prominent entrepreneurs and businessman, private companies, horticulture dept. & CIH, Nagaland attended the programme. 
A field visit was organized for the participants on September 27 at Kameray Model Horticulture Farm, East Sikkim.
Altogether, 23 state government officials and CEOs of 5 FPOs participated in the training, which was coordinated by Prabin Das marketing specialist, CIH.
