Training on paper bag making organized in Dimapur

Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) in collaboration with Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) and CAN Youth organized a two-day training on paper bag making at DBIDL Hall, Don Bosco School campus from July 20 to 21.
A press release from CAN Youth secretary, Zhove Lohe stated that, the trainers Alice, Marina and Samuel from CAN Youth, conducted the training and were assisted by interns from Bosco Institute Jorhat, NEF College of Management & Technology, Guwahati and AIDA IGNOU Dimapur. The training was aimed at providing a means of livelihood skill for the participating women and also to promote eco friendliness and stoppage on using plastics. 
The women participants were also encouraged to join hands with the DMC to compete in the market arena with their products. They were urged to create history by becoming the first to make paper bags in the state and come up a brand.
Vice president of the Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD), Vimenuo also lauded and motivated the participants to change the Naga concept of being satisfied only by earning a huge amount at once. She encouraged the women to acquire all the required skills from the trainers without hesitation.  Abeau Mero, entrepreneur & social activist also spoke about the changing climate of Dimapur due to environmental pollution and the use of non-recyclable products. She also spoke on the upcoming organic project to be launched for the development of rural women. CAN Youth extended its gratefulness to Dimapur Municipal Council and Naga Women Hoho Dimapur for giving them the privilege to train the women and for their concern for the environment, targeting Dimapur for a plastics-free district.
Altogether 56 women participated in the training. CAN Youth, an NGO based in Dimapur, has started promoting paper bags since 2015 and has trained more than 30 SHGs and 6 youth organizations.
