training on SHM & SCP

State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), organised two-day training programme on “soil health management and soil conservation practices” (SHM & SCP ), for ATMA functionaries at SAMETI, Medziphema, on February 27 and 28. 

A press release from director, SAMETI, stated that resource persons for the training were scientist (soil science), ICAR NER, Jharnapani, Nagaland, Dr. Christy B K Sangma, and lecturer and incharge, Bio Control Laboratory, Medziphema, Nagaland, Dr. Beremjungla. 
Resource persons spoke on various topics. 
Incharge, director SAMETI and principal IETC, Dr. Watimongla Jamir, also delivered a short lecture on soil maps of Nagaland, to give participants better insight about soil scenario in the state.
Meanwhile, a field trip to Agri- Soil Chemistry Laboratory was also undertaken, where agri. inspector, Imosanen, conducted demonstration on soil sample collection, followed by discussion and interaction. 
Valedictory function was chaired by DPD SAMETI, Tiajungla Longchar, while feedback on training was given by ATM, Kohima, Neitouzo, and ATM, Kiphire, Moanenla Jamir. 
Dr. Watimongla Jamir, in her valedictory speech encouraged participants to always recommend crops to farmers based on soil type of the area, so as to avoid crop failure and economic loss. 
There was also distribution of certificates to participants by incharge director SAMETI and principal IETC, while vote of thanks was proposed by DPD SAMETI, Janet Chishi.
