The state government has decided to impart training and skill development programmes for those people who had recently returned to Nagaland and had been working outside the state.

For this, the High Powered Committee (HPC) on COVID-19 related activities under the chairmanship of chief minister Neiphiu Rio Wednesday directed the Labour & Employment department to register all such people with the government with full details, so that appropriate training and skill development programmes could be imparted for gainful employment.

Informing during the daily briefing, principal secretary Home, Abhijit Sinha said the commissioner & secretary Labour & Employment had informed that the department was working with the IT department to come out with an App where the returnees can registers themselves along with their skill set and work experience.

The data collected will be used by the Government to work on an action plan to utilise the available human resources in the State.    The HPC also discussed about mechanisms to be put in place so that citizens who were planning to return to other states for employment, get themselves registered with the state government and update their place of employment and other details.

This is required so that the government would be in a position to quickly reach out to anyone outside, who maybe in distress and provide assistance and other kind of help.

The review meeting was also attended by HPC co-chairman and deputy CM Y. Patton along with HPC members-- H&FW minister, Planning, LR & Parliamentary Affairs minister; advisor IT & ST and NRE and ministers-- Agriculture & Cooperation; Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Justice & Law; Public Health Engineering Department; PWD (H&Mech) and senior officials.
