Tribal bodies asked to depute nominees to NEFIP

DIMAPUR, AUG 26 (NPN) | Publish Date: 8/26/2019 11:53:45 AM IST

Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) has requested eight tribe hohos, Kachari Tribal Council and ENPO to depute a member each from their community (making for a total of 10 members) to represent Nagaland to the North East Forum for Indigenous People (NEFIP).

JCPI convenor K Ghokheto Chophy stated that those 10 members would be Nagaland’s permanent representative to NEFIP routed through the office of the JCPI. Chophy stated that JCPI was a state member representing Nagaland to the NEFIP as endorsed by apex tribe bodies at the meeting held at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur, on May 18. JCPI has, therefore, requested presidents of all the said tribe bodies to submit the names of the nominees to JCPI convenor on or before August 28. The delegation would participate in the NEFIP Assembly at Aizawl, from September 4-6, 2019.

Meanwhile, JCPI meeting would be held on August 28, at 4 pm at Hotel Jal Mahal, Mhalie Park.
