Tripura government degree colleges to have placement cells

In a bid to provide job opportunity to the students of Tripura, the state government has decided to set up placement cells in all 22 government degree colleges, said education minister Ratan Lal Nath on Thursday, reports Northeast Now news.

Speaking with reporters, Nath said that for the first time in state placement cells are being set up in all 22 government degree colleges. 

A meeting was chaired by the director of the higher education department recently. Another meeting is likely to be held soon under the supervision before January 31, Nath added.

He also said that the members of the cell would be trained and a committee would be formed consisting of around 15 final-year students in each college. 

The cell members would also have interaction with the higher education director to discuss matters like modification, training, emails, letter drafting, and interaction with industry experts. “The state government has also installed a bio-metric attendance system linking with Aadhaar in all 22 general degree colleges and nine professional degree colleges.

 The list includes Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT), six polytechnic colleges, Government College of Arts and Crafts, and Sachin Debbarman Memorial Government Music College,” Nath said. 

The monitoring will start from the next academic session. Along with this the department of Higher Education, Government of Tripura will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Campus Eai India Private Limited for online admission in 22 government general degree colleges in the state.

He also said that for each student taking admission through online mode, Rs 27 would be spent by the state government. 

The procedure would be starting for the aspirants willing to take admission from 2020-21 academic sessions in all 22 government degree colleges. The said company has worked with IIM Ahmedabad, Varanasi University and New Mexico State University, Auckland University earlier, Nath said.
