Thanamir Village Council (TVC) and Thanamir Village Students' Union (TVSU) held a collaborative convocation to discuss issues concerned with protection of biodiversity, the environment and natural resources within Thanamir village jurisdiction.

Village Council chairman, Tsechimong, in a press release stated that the two parties adopted some resolutions strictly banning: i) fishing, hunting and poaching; ii) procuring of any live animals, birds, fishes, insects; medicinal plants, or those that have decorative or economic value; precious stones or any other thing the union feels is worthy of preserving; iii) destruction of forests in large areas for timber whether for commercial or non-commercial purposes and; iv) jungle burning.

The two organizations warned that any individual or party that breaks these rules, shall be penalized as per the union’s resolutions.
