 United Baptist Churches Association North East India (UBCANEI) released its second edition of church hymnal book at UBC, Balijan near LRC Dimapur on Monday. 

The hymnal book was released by Council of Baptist Churches North East India (CBCNEI) general secretary and chancellor, North East Christian University, Guwahati, Assam Reverend Prof. Akheto Sema. 

During the programme, Rev. Prof. Akheto Sema shared the word of God from the book of Ephesians 5:19.  Sema maintained that under CBCNEI there were more than eight thousand Baptist churches comprising of around 15 lakhs membership. He also added that, there were about six hospitals, four nursing schools which would be upgraded to colleges soon.  

Speaking about the importance of hymn book, he said that music and song continue to play a vital role in the life of God’s people today and that singing was the highest form of human expression. He mentioned that hymn was something to be conserved within the church, because they tell a theological story and that every hymn has a story to tell. Sema also encouraged the congregation to remember the authors who have written the hymns and to understand the meaning wholeheartedly.

Brief note about the hymnal book was delivered by UBCANEI secretary women ministry, Peli Yeptho Shiu. Altogether five thousand copies have been published and would be made available at UBCANEI office.  Special prayer for donors was proposed by UBCANEI, UBC, Thahekhu block ‘3’ Rev. Dr. L Hevuto Awomi, welcome song by UBC, Balijan and special number by UBC, Thahekhu block ‘3’.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by UBCANEI, secretary youth ministry Loveson Leivon and benediction proposed by UBCANEI advisor Rev. YT Lotha.   The book comprises of 302 English and 102 Nagamese hymnal songs. The Nagamese hymnal songs have staff notation, which is the first of its kind. The second edition of church hymnal with staff notation in English and Nagamese was compiled by UBCANEI music committee members printed at Eastern Publication House, Dimapur.
