History faculty of Unity College Dimapur  (UCD) along with students of history honours (BA 5th semester) undertook a study tour at Sivasagar, Assam on September 14.

A press release from UCD department of History stated that, department of History chose the destination based on two objectives, to acquaint the students with real-time experience of the Ahom history, and to visit the Central Baptist Church (CBC) or Sivasagar Baptist Church (SBC), constructed in 1841 and established in 1845.

The compound witnessed the arrival of the Clarks in March 1869 and the subsequent evangelist missions into Naga Hills.

Sivasagar was also called Rangpur, when it was the erstwhile capital of the Ahom kingdom from 1699 AD to 1788 AD.

Ahoms ruled Assam for about six centuries, from 13th century till the Burmese invasion in 1819 and their ruling class disappeared.

It may be noted that the college also organised various activities to enhance the faculty’s and institution’s credentials.

Launched on December 3,1990. Nagaland Post is the first and highest circulated newspaper of Nagaland state. Nagaland Post is also the first newspaper in Nagaland to be published in multi-colour.
