United Democratic Alliance (UDA) legislators led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio met with the Working Committee of the NNPGs led by its convenor N. Kitovi Zhimomi here at Nagaland House on Wednesday.

Highly placed sources informed Nagaland Post that the meeting between the UDA legislators and WC/NNPGs was an “informal” meeting over lunch. Though both sides had also discussed about the ongoing Naga issue in order to push for an early political settlement, no further details were made known.

Later, the UDA legislators also held a separate meeting with government of India representative/interlocutor, AK Mishra at Nagaland House.

Earlier, during their meeting with Mishra on Sunday, Rio reportedly conveyed the resolution of the UDA all-party government for early settlement of the Naga political issue.

It may be recalled that chief minister Neiphiu Rio along with NPF legislature party leader T.R. Zeliang left for Delhi on October 10 with the mission to meet Government of India representative, AK Mishra and the Naga Political Groups already camping in Delhi.

They were joined by BJP legislators led by deputy chief minister Y. Patton on Tuesday. Ahead of their trip to Delhi, BJP delegation said that, as facilitators for Naga political talks, they would urge upon the negotiating groups to expedite the protracted Naga peace talks by hammering out differences in order to bring about an acceptable and honorable solution, which has eluded the people for decades.

The NSCN (I-M) leaders led by ato kilonser Th. Muivah and chairman Q. Tuccu and also the WC/NNPGs led by N. Kitovi Zhimomi have been camping in Delhi for several weeks now and holding separate meetings with government of India officials.

Niki-led NSCN (K) had also returned to Nagaland after meeting AK Mishra on October 7.
