Unity College observes swachhta pakhwada

Unity college observed swachhta pakhwada from January 16 to Januray 31 at the college premises where a list of activities were conducted to spread awareness on the importance of cleanliness and steps to be undertaken in contributing towards a clean environment.

According to a press release by the college, the swachhta week started with a pledge taking ceremony where students vowed to commit towards cleanliness and devote time in making India a clean country. Cleanliness and plantation drives were also conducted in and around the college campus under the initiative of student council and eco club. 
During the swachhta week, cleanliness drive was carried out with active participation from girls of the college hostel under supervision of the warden on January 25. A talk show on “swachhta -personal, mental, environmental, and societal” was also organised to create awareness among students on all aspects of swachhta, followed by an interactive session. 
Later, eco club of the college organised a speech, slogan and poster competition under the themes “water conservation” and “forest conservation” on January 27 with an aim to stress on the importance of conserving our water and forest resources.
Meanwhile, the programme was led by Assuvi Zhimo, assistant professor, department of education and competition was judged by Lumchirhoni Tungoe, assistant professor, department of education, Sadamyanger, assistant professor, department of english and Kikruneino Sachu, assistant professor, department of EVS. Winners of speech competition were Subhana Rahman and Aloto T Sumi, winners of slogan competition were Laxmi Giri and Zuchobeni Erui, while Chingyapalm, Pongjilemba and Kenyuylunlo Seb were winners of poster competition.
