The match between Unity FC and Asufü Christian Institute was locked in a goalless draw in the first half.

However, in the second half, Ketsivilie broke the deadlock with an assist from Olando in favour of Unity FC team with five minutes remaining in the match. But in the last minute, Dhale scored the equaliser for ACI Manipur through a stunning free kick from outside the box to take the match to penalties.

In the shoot-out, Asufü Chirstian Institute captain Adahrü’s shot was saved by the keeper, while Athisü Bali missed the target paving the way for Unity FC to move into quarter-finals.

With the win, Unity FC will play against Viswemi FC on October 14 in the quarterfinal round.

In the first match, MTYO Medziphema FC got a walkover over Jotsoma Youth Organisation following a protest against the referee which halted the match for about an hour but ended in a walkover.

From then on, the match proceeding was interrupted as JYO protested against the decision and the team walked out of the ground protesting against the referee’s decision.

Meanwhile, the organisers Angami Students’ Union expressed hope that such incident would not be repeated in the remaining part of the tournament.
