UVBDS to observe ‘weekly dry day’ to control dengue

 A “Weekly Dry Day”, will begin from August 4 till November last week covering the entire dengue season. Assistant director UVBDS (NVBDCP) Dimapur, Kikolul Khieya in a press release said this was as per a resolution adopted during the observation of anti-dengue month on July 21with different colonies of Dimapur and colony leaders or members of the public organized by Urban Vector Borne Disease Scheme (UVBDS) Dimapur.

Khieya requested colony leaders and the public to stick to the resolution by emptying all water containers viz, coolers, water storage container, tires, coconut shells, over head tanks, buckets, flower vases, bottles, refrigerator drip pans, bamboo stumps, or any container where water accumulates.

It also listed the signs and symptoms of dengue fever such as sudden onset of fever, headache, muscles and joint pain, pain behind the eyes which worsens with eye movement, loss of sense of taste and appetite, measles like rash over the chest and upper limbs, and vomiting. For any suspected case of dengue fever, the public has been asked to contact Civil Hospital Dimapur for diagnosis.
