Vanguard FC Tseminyu beat A Yhome FC 3-2 in a thrilling encounter in the Seyie Auto Kohima Football League-3 at IG Stadium Kohima on Wednesday.

Vanguard FC dominated possession and had the opportunity in the early minutes with Mathew Kezhose hitting the crossbar in the 8th minute, while Yhunshalo Kemp missed a golden opportunity in the 13th minute.

Yhome FC responded quickly and Vanguard custodian Ntsenlo Semp was forced to make a save from Punuru Neinu in the 17th minute.

A minute later, Tseminyu team opened the scoring when Yhunshalo Kemp’s header found the back of the net after a superb assist by Kezhose to give Vanguard FC 1-0.

It didn’t take time for Yhome to respond when Vilhoubeituo earned his team a penalty in the 23rd minute for a foul inside the area. Neinu took the penalty and slotted home the equaliser.

After the break, Neikethozo of Yhome had his shot hitting the crossbar in the 47th minute. 

Then, Kezhose, who had also his shot, hit the crossbar in the first session made not mistake to give Vanguard the lead again. 

But, the match was not far from over, when Vanguard keeper Semp conceded an own goal following a corner kick from Punuru in the 77th minute.

Thereafter, Vanguard pressed hard and they were rewarded when one of the rival defenders committed a foul inside the danger area in the 83rd minute. The spot-kick was taken by Sinenlo, who made no mistake to score his second penalty to seal victory for Vanguard.

Vanguard strikers Mathew Kezhose and Yhunshalo Kemp were culpable of missing numerous chances as Yhome team fought till the last minute.

Vanguard FC with this win remained in the third position with six points and a goal difference behind Forerunners and Sechu Zubza. 

Meanwhile, in the first match, debutant Kohima Eagles FC registered the first win of the season after defeating United 16 FC 3-0 in their second match.

Kohima Eagles opened the account through Menoneikho Nakhro in the 16th minute to give the deserving lead and Johnny Ritse doubled the lead with four minutes remaining in the first half.

Kohima Eagles FC also dominated the second session as they hold on their lead, with United FC falling to keep their composure during the game.

With the match ending in favour of the debutant team, Kakheyi Assumi scored a long range kick in the 89th minute to finish the game 3-0.

The win put Kohima Eagles in fourth place of the table with three points.
