Vanguard thrash United 16 FC to go top

Mathew Kezhose scored four as Vanguard FC Tseminyu thrashed United 16 FC 10-1 to go top on the league standing at the ongoing Seyie Auto Kohima Football League-3 on Tuesday.

Vanguard FC moved above Forerunners FC on the league standing on better goal difference (+12) having the same points (12 points) in four matches. With two matches remaining for both teams, Friday’s encounter between the two teams could decide the new champions of the 3rd edition. 

Playing the 14th match of the season at IG Stadium, Kohima, Mathew Kezhose, Yhunshalo Kemp and Sinenlo Kath run riot for Vanguard FC scoring seven goals in the process leaving United 16 FC with no chance to reply back.

Mathew Kezhose found the back of the net in the 24th, 46th, 47th and 58th minute while Yhunshalo Kemp scored twice in the 29th and 82nd minute. 

Substitute Shamba (Vanguard FC) got his name in the scoresheet in the 80th minute. While an own goal was scored by Tejongul Sothu in the 73rd minute.  Sinenlo Kath and Nighato contributed a goal each in the last minute to finish the game.

The consolation goal for United 16 FC was scored by Tianuksung Longkumer in the 59th minute ending the goal drought in the 3rd edition. 

Zhopovi Zecho, District Sports Officer, Wokha was the match patron.
