Various cultural troupes perform on 73rd I-DAY
Various cultural troupes performing during the 73rd Independence Day Celebration at Secretariat Plaza, Kohima.

 The Angami, Rengma, Zeliang, Pochury and Ao cultural troupes performed dances during the cultural presentation on the Independence Day programme at the Secretariat Plaza, Kohima. 

The Angami troupe showcased the different stages of terrace cultivation during harvesting period. The harvesting method is called Tekhoure which is combined with Telhanyu, where the male peers dance and extract the paddy from the harvest. 

The Rengma troupe presented Ngada folk dance which is performed during their Ngada festival in the month of November.  This dance demonstrates the development of human values in their social life, and it also helps in the training of the younger generation. 

Pochury troupe displayed Tsethomari and Asuoro folk song and dance which is performed during their 10 days festival called the Nazu festival. Tsethomari is also a skill used for harvesting millet. 

The Zeliang troupe performed Knagtheng Lin dance and the Ao cultural troupe from AongReju Cultural Organisation performed the Hornbill dance which signifies the victory of the warriors over the enemy during the head hunting days.

The Nagaland Adolescent Girls Club displayed a dance showcasing their theme for this year, “this is me. The unapologetically you”, which was followed by a presentation of National anthem in sign language by Cherry Blossom School,  Kohima, and Taekwondo display by Sports Academy,  IG Stadium.
