Village councils of Seyochung, Thangthure and Yingphire have alleged inferior quality of work on the 16.87-km Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road between L-022 and Yimphire.

In a letter to chief engineer, PWD roads & bridges, L Chokhaba Anar, Atsacho and Lichose, chairmen of Seyochung Village Council, Thangthure Village Council and Yingphire Village Council respectively, said joint council of the three villages held a consultative meeting on Tuesday to discuss the issue.

The trio informed the chief engineer that work was not up to the expectation of general public, while pointing out that even after lapse of the stipulated time of five years, more than one-and-a-half kilometre stretch of the PMGSY road was yet to be completed.

They also said that wherever work was complete, grass tended to grow on the surface of the road within a month. The three village council chairmen appealed on behalf of the joint council to the chief engineer to intervene in the matter and stop further payment, unless clearance certificate was issued from their end.
