Vekutho wins 44th PWA wrestling meet

Vekutho Soho defeated Kuluveto Venuh to emerge as the champion of 44th Wrestling Tournament of Phek Wrestling Association (PWA) held at Phek village on Tuesday.  
Soho, who lost his final bout against Venuh in the 43rd edition, overpowered his opponent this edition to take the title.  The champion Vekutho Soho (26 years) walked away with a cash prize of Rs.30,000 while 26 year old Venuh was awarded with Rs. 20,000.
Last edition winner of the ‘B category’ Kuluvezo Soho stood in third and received Rs. 15,000 while fourth placed Vekuhu Rhakho received Rs. 10.
For Under-16 years category, Shevoku Venuh took the title, and Vebo Chizo bagged the runners-up. Johi Rhakho and Khuzu Chizo came in 3rd and 4th place respectively.
Meanwhile, 10 senior wrestlers and another four under-16 year wrestlers have been selected to represent PWA at the forthcoming 26th edition of Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) scheduled for January 29 and 30 at Phek Town.
Zavekho Vero, RO, DEF, SP Office Phek graced the closing ceremony as the valedictory guest and gave away prizes to the winners.
