VSU golden jubilee celebrated at Vekuho village

Vekuhomi Students’ Union (VSU) golden jubilee (1970-2020) was conducted at Vekuho village from January 17 to 19, under the theme “Niw jukucho kuqu kitheni” (Rekindling our vision).

A press release from VSU stated that, Er. Picto Shohe MLA 32 AC speaking at the inaugural session stated that the parents send their children for studies out of the district which affects the growth of government institutions and thereby it was not getting developed. He urged the village leaders to implement the use of English as the medium of teaching and learning process. He further stressed on the need of respecting parents expounding a verse from Ephesians and expressed his disappointment at youths’ disrespect for their parents.

Dr. Vihuto Asumi principal Immanuel Hr. Sec School speaking at the introductory session as the theme speaker said that life was very precious and each passing moment should be lived as though it is the last. He shared about the first Sumi writer being from their village and urged the congregation never to forget the person that has helped them during their tough days. Accepting the fact that undeserving people get in through backdoor, Asümi affirmed that there was always a place for the hard workers. He further called the students to rekindle their vision by moving forward no matter what the circumstances were.

Lhosheli Shohe the first B.Th graduate of the village spoke on ighinikiu thukuwupu mujopheni (fostering progressive future) on  January 18 at evening session and Rev. Mulato Chishi executive secretary SBAK Aizuto also spoke under the theme akiviu tiqheli ghenguno akiviu kikili (better change for a better generation) at the valedictory session.

Earlier on January 17, the jubilee stone was dedicated by Rev. Dohekhu Achumi, ex. pastor and unveiled by Shikikhe Awomi first gen. secy VSU, while greetings was delivered by Hozheto Aye GB.
