DC & DEO Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, flagged off a Walk for Ethical Voting under the SVEEP Awareness Campaign on Clean Elections on April 6.

The activity was jointly organized by Wokha District Administration and Lotha Eloe Hoho and was flagged off from Police Point, Wokha.

“Lack of infrastructure in our state is due to absence of clean elections”, Dr. Samoon stated before the flag-off. He added that people cannot blame only the government or political parties, but they need to decide whether they want a prosperous future through ethical voting, or allow their votes to be influenced by bribes in cash or kind during elections and regret it later.

The DC urged the public to select and vote for the right candidate who can bring changes to society. Appealing to the citizens of Wokha district to go and cast their votes on April 11, the DC also urged the gathering to not indulge in or tolerate bogus or multiple voting which, he said, goes against ethical voting.

The program was chaired by Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH) president, Zuchopeni Ezong; the invocation was offered by LEH cultural secretary Ranchano. A special song was presented by Sochano Tsopoe and a vote of thanks was said by Grace Ezung, SVEEP icon Wokha.
