WDCCI, WDCRA to streamline labour charges

DIMAPUR, DEC 1 (NPN) | Publish Date: 12/1/2020 12:34:53 PM IST

Noting that porters engaged in different works including construction has hampered the normal activities in Wokha town, the Wokha District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WDCCI) and Wokha District Consumer Rights Association (WDCRA) have resolved to not allow porters to engage in different works apart from their assigned works.

WDCCI information and publicity, Abenthung Kikon in a statement stated that the resolution was taken at the joint consultative meeting of WDCCI and WDCRA with coolies/porters at Wokha district chairman & VDBs conference hall on December 1.

The members at the consultative meeting further resolved to streamline the unskilled labour charges including registration number and uniform. The meeting was attended by around 50 porters including locals.

Meanwhile, the two associations have encouraged the Naga youths to take up both skill and unskill labours rather than depending on the non-Nagas.
