WDLSA holds workshop in ‘Lotha dialect’

Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) and Wokha district administration conducted one day workshop with the DBs, GBs and village councils in “Lotha dialect” at DCs Conference Hall on July 12. 

Speaking on the roles and responsibilities of DBs,GBs and Village Council, ADC Wokha, Mhathung Tsanglao urged them to discharge their duties effectively with utmost dedication as they are the custodian of the  Naga customary laws and practices. Advocate and panel lawyer, Renbonthung Tsanglao, who spoke on the Lok Adalat and its mechanism said that Lok Adalat  have jurisdiction to determine and to arrive at a compromise and  settlement  between parties whether pending cases or pre-litigation cases and is governed by consensual participation. Advocate and panel lawyer, David Ezung spoke on the “Basic procedures of Law (Crpc /Cpc procedure provided under Rules of Administration of Justice and Police”. Advocate and retainer lawyer, Meribemo A Lotha spoke on “Money Lenders Act & its Jurisdictional Authority”. The programme was chaired by advocate and project assistant, Shanchobeni P. Lotha.
