Will Bharatiya Janata Party shine in Nagaland?

By Nagaland Post | Publish Date: 4/9/2019 12:40:35 PM IST

Factor - I Hindutva: Nagaland is predominantly occupied by Nagas from time immemorial. The majority of Nagas are Christians. They observe Sunday a day of God. God worked 6 days and took rest on 7th day. God commanded Christians to keep the 7th day holy. All works are to be ceased on the day of God. Exodus 20:19. “Remember the Sunday as a day of God and keep it holy”. Christians of all denominations are busy from morning attending devotional service to evening services and prayer meetings.

The Government of India has adopted a policy to do away Sunday by fixing interview, board meetings, conducting examinations for selection of candidates for employment in government offices and recruitment in Army, Para Military Forces, BSF etc. on sundays. This kind of action disturbs Sunday worship services.

Sunday is recognised as International holiday by the world body which is found in Gregorian Calendar. But BJP is trying to do away Christianity by way of declaring Sunday a working day.

Factor - II Hindi as official language: After joining BJP a political party, I attended two executive meetings one at Dimapur and other at Kohima. The two national secretaries addressed the meeting in Hindi. Those of us who are not conversant in Hindi were placed in very difficult situation either to walk out or remain mum and sit like a statue. How can we participate in the discussion without knowing the subject matters? Yes learning Hindi is very beneficial but forced learning will not help.

Factor - III seat sharing between BJP & NDPP: I joined BJP during the 3rd Nagaland BJP Executive meeting at Dimapur along with 4 other senior citizens of Nagaland with a hope of getting involved in the BJP Political affairs in Nagaland. I was appointed as advisor to BJP 34 Aghunato assembly constituency. While working hard to wake people to understand the working principles of national party - BJP, the seat sharing between BJP& NDPP arranged at the highest level in Delhi crushed our hopes. BJP 34 Aghunato constituency was thrown into dustbin. Not only 34 Aghunato assembly constituency, 39 other constituencies which were given to NDPP will never came back to BJP. We have no alternative than to join NPF whether one likes it or not. The BJP party workers in 34 Aghunato assembly constituency will never again join BJP.

Factor - IV Framework Agreement signed on 3rd August 2015: Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi had declared that he would settle Naga political problem within 18 months. To his word, an agreement was signed on 3rd Auguat 2015. There was jubilation throughout Nagaland welcoming the final agreement for permanent political settlement. But till today nothing concrete has come up.

Shri. R.N Ravi the Interlocutor representing Government of India is playing hide & seek game with the Naga negotiators. He himself has become controversial. He is keeping Naga peace negotiators in Delhi and coming down to Nagaland for consultation with Naga civil societies and at times he consults with the neighbouring states of Manipur, Assam & Arunachal Pradesh. He is acting paying quest game. It is difficult to understand him.  The original name of India was Bharat but the Bharat was confined in the central India and not beyond Calcutta. The North-East was discovered by the British and not by India.  India is a secular country. Thus Indian leaders should take wise decision for survival of India.

Factor -V CAB: The Citizenship Ammendment Bill 2016 is the talk of the day in India with particular reference to North-East India.

Though the Bill is yet to be introduced, the intention of the BJP is to pour the refugees into the North-East India to overrun native people. As has already been mentioned, Amit Shah the president of the BJP said if BJP is voted to power the Bill willbe passed and introduced. Whether C.A.B is passed or not, Dimapur is already flooded with Bangladeshis.

Permit me to say that political negotiation for final settlement is only lip language but real intention of BJP is to flood the North-East with refugees from Bangladesh. This is my earnest appeal to all Naga Political negotiators not to press upon the government of India for early political settlement. Time is not yet ripe for settlement.
