Winter fest for pets and family begins

 The much-awaited two-day winter fest for pets and family organised by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was inaugurated on Saturday at Dimapur government college ground.

The event was organised in aid of SPCA mobile van and other activities. 

Inaugurating the event, deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan lauded SPCA team for coming up with such initiative and pointed out that the SPCA Dimapur team was more proactive and always ahead compared to the other districts of the state.

Lamenting that Nagaland still was in the initial stage when it came to awareness on treating pets, DC called for more awareness in the society. He also assured to extend his support. 

At the inaugural programme, invocation prayer was said by The ware house church pastor Annie, music for the soul was presented by Kekhrie Ringa, welcome speech was delivered by SPCA executive secretary Marian Rao, “Hands on heaven” musical piece was presented by Maria Cherendnikova and vote of thanks was delivered by N Joseph Lemtur. 

The programme also included a dog show competition which was actively participated by eight dogs.

Marcus, a malamute was declared winner of the dog show along with Junior (golden retriever) and Pixie (Shih-Tzu) as second and third runner-up respectively.

Meanwhile, the best performer went to Diesel (Rottweiler).

A total of 25 stalls and a photobooth was set up presenting various pet accessories and food. 

The event would culminate on November 28.
