Wokha dist gears up for total elimination of malnutrition

Child development project officer (CDPO) Wokha, Myanlumo Patton said that  malnourished new born babies should not be compromised at any cost and it was the duty of every CDPO, supervisor and Angawadi worker to ensure that. 

CDPO said this during the two-day training held for trainers under Poshan week at the initiative of Social Welfare department Nagaland from September 3 to 4 at CDPO conference hall, Wokha. 

CDPO also said Poshan Abhiyaan was taken up under the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) in collaboration with multi-ministerial convergence mission with a vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022.  He said the scheme is targeted to the children from 0-6 year and pregnant women and lactating mothers.

Patton further stated that the every malnourished child should not be left out, for which every supervisor and Angawadi worker should ensure with proper care, guidance and support to the pregnant and nurturing women. He therefore encouraged field workers to give their hundred percent effort to make it possible. 

The technical session was also presented by Peter Yanthan CDPO Bhandari. Programme was attended by CDPOs, supervisors and representatives from chief medical office under Wokha district. The month long programme is also to be followed up by Poshan rally in different blocks, seminars and awareness programme at various village.
