Woman arrested with gold worth Rs 3.16 cr

Officials of Customs Preventive Force of the Imphal Customs Division on Thursday intercepted a woman with smuggled gold bars worth over Rs three crore near Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur’s border town Moreh.

The woman later identified as Tingkholam (59) of Phaicham Veng of Moreh town was detained near the Indo-Myanmar friendship gate no. 2 with the smuggled gold biscuits today around 8.30 am, a release of the Imphal Customs Divisions stated.

A total of 50 gold biscuits weighting 8300gm were seized from the woman is valued at around Rs 3,16,14,7001, the release said.

A case has been registered and investigation is on, the release added.
