Woman RPF/PLA bomb expert held in Manipur

A bomb expert of the Revolutionary People’s Front/People Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) wanted in various IED blast cases has been arrested by security forces in Manipur, official source said on Thursday.

Fifty-two-year-old Mayanglambam Premila Devi wife of late M Naobi Singh of Kachi Khul village in Imphal West district was arrested by a combined team of state police commandos and 5 JK Rifles from her residence around 4 pm on Wednesday, the police source said. While alleging that she was a well-trained bomb expert of the rebel group, the source said she joined the outfit in 2012 and availed training on bomb assembling and handling at a training centre of the outfit in Myanmar.  After completing the training, she has been actively engaging in transportation of bombs and planting of IEDs to attack security forces at various places in the state. Many a case related with IED plantings and blasts allegedly involving her were pending with various police stations across the state, the source alleged. The source further accused her as main accused in planting and triggering of an IED at Awang Khunou in Imphal West district in November 2016. In the blast, three security personnel including a JCO of 18 Sikh Regiment had suffered critical injuries and a sniffer dog was killed, the source said. The woman who is a hard-core cadre of the RPF/PLA has been handed over to Patsoi police station of Imphal West district for further necessary action along with some incriminating articles recovered from her possession, the source added.
