The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) on Monday has lauded Capital Complex superintendent of police Tumme Amo and his team of police personnel for promptly solving the infamous Hawa Camp murder case, reports Northeast Now news.

A bullet-ridden and charred body of a lady, later identified as Alep Basumatary, a resident of Millanpur village in Biswanath district of Assam was recovered from the Hawa Camp area in Kimin on May 16.
Taking prompt action, the police under the supervision of SP Amo had on Sunday solved the case by arresting the prime suspect and also recovered the weapon – a .25 bore pistol – that was used for committing the crime.
“The murder had caused so much speculation and invited shock from all sectors. The prompt action taken by the police to arrest the accused is commendable. This has also restored the faith and understanding between the two neighboring sister states,” APWWS general secretary Kani Nada Maling said in a statement on Monday.
Relatives of the deceased and other people had on Sunday evening resorted to dharna near the Hollongi check post demanding arrest of the culprit. The situation was, however, brought under control by the police.
“The APWWS also thanks and appreciates the media fraternity for following the case and keeping the masses updated with every detail. The society at the same time deeply mourns the death of the victim and prays to the almighty to give strength to here bereaved family members,” Maling said further appealing the authority concerned to expedite the investigation.
The District Level Interim Committee of Papum Pare said that incident had caused panic and trauma in the minds of the people of Hawa Camp.
