Workshop on cleanliness and management of solid waste

In observance of Swachhta Phakwada 2020, Wokha district administration in collaboration with district level centre for women (DLCW)- Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao organized a workshop on cleanliness and management of solid waste and distribution of sapling at DC conference hall on March 3.

According to DIPR report, Merithung Lotha, district co-ordinator, DLCW-MSK, gave the welcome address as well as chaired the programme. Dr. Wonchano E Enny, women welfare officer, DLCW-MSK, enlightened the participants on the services provided by MSK, OSC-Sakhi and Women Helpline 181.
Arhomo Yanthan, EAC (Hq), exhorted the participant on the importance of cleanliness in society and in one’s life and encouraged participants to produce less waste for cleaner and healthier tomorrow.
Er. M. Zuchanbemo Tsanglao, JE, PHED, highlighted on the biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and its ill effect on health if poorly managed. He also shared on grey and black water management and its benefit to the environment as well as to the society. 
He shared that this can be an income generating activities for SHGs or a group if managed properly. According to his report, almost all the rural areas are availing the schemes but the case was not same for urban areas. At the end of the programme saplings were distributed to all the participants to encourage tree plantation.
