Two-day workshop on empowerment of local government system, Nagaland for strengthening of VCs and VDBs was organised by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, India, Sriperumbudus, Tamil Nadu in collaboration with district administration Wokha and Integrated Youth Resources Express (IYRE) was held on February 24 to 25 at DC’s conference hall, Wokha.

According to DIPR report, deputy commissioner, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha, inaugurating the workshop emphasised on the protection of resources in the villages in a sustainable manner. He also highlighted the significance of working together harmoniously by all concern stakeholders for over all development of the villages. 

He specially appreciated the initiative of RGNIYD in reaching out to the remote areas of Nagaland and taking the unique step of strengthening the VCs and VDBs by bringing all the stakeholders together.

Resource persons for the workshop were Dr. K. Gireesan, associate professor and head Centre for Policy and Action Research, RGNIYD, Sriperumbudus, Tamil Nadu, ADC, Wokha, K. Mhathung Tsanglao, advocate Shanchobeni. P. Lotha panel lawyer, Wokha district legal services authority Wokha, L. Ethel Ngullie, coordinator Integrated Youth Resource Express, president IYRE Longshithung, BDO Bhandari Thungchanbemo Lotha and SMS (Agriculture Extension) KVK Wokha, Dr. B. L. Mhalo.

Launched on December 3,1990. Nagaland Post is the first and highest circulated newspaper of Nagaland state. Nagaland Post is also the first newspaper in Nagaland to be published in multi-colour.
