Workshop on filing wildlife crime cases

Wildlife Division, Dimapur (WDD) organized a one-day capacity building workshop on procedures of filing wildlife crime case, at Protection Camp, Intanki National Park (INP) on March 27. 

A press release from WDD wildlife warden, Tokaho H. Kinimi stated that the training program was taught by a team from Wildlife Crime Control Branch, Wildlife Division, Dimapur to equip frontline staff with legal capacity to effectively prosecute and convict perpetrators of wildlife crime. 
The training focused on procedures to be followed during search, seizures, arrest and detention, preparation of seizure lists, arrest memos, Preliminary Offence Reports (PORs), and filing a final complaint under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. 
The trainees were also briefed on some important and relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and important Sections of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
A total of 23 foresters and forest guards from Protection Force, Intanki National Park ‘A’ and ‘B’ range participated in the training.
