Workshop on tourist guide and homestay orientation

Department of Tourism organised a one-day training programme on tourist guide and homestay orientation at Jotsoma village in collaboration with the Jotsoma Village Council (JVC) and Jotsoma Nature Conservation and Eco- Tourism (JNCET) on October 18. 

A press release from Tourism department stated that resource persons for the workshop were officials from department of Tourism and Nagaland Tourism Association (NTA). Keneizhakho Nakro, MLA also graced the occasion and shared with the participants about the various tourism and conservation efforts taken up by the village.

Zakiebeilie Nakro, member JNCET also shared the brief history behind the purpose for the formation of the JNCET in 2008 and spoke about the activities taken up by them.

Director, Tourism Akhale Vizol in her keynote address spoke on different aspect and perspective of tourism, promotion of homestays in rural areas, differentiation of rural and urban homestays, and against the harmful effects of plastic etc. 

Diana Achumi, tourist officer briefly shared on the importance of housekeeping and proceeded with the hands-on skill demonstration on standard operating procedures for bed-making and basic table set-up.

Veteu Koza, tourist officer deliberated on the basic facilities and standards requirement of homestay and gave a visual illustration of different homestay in Nagaland. She also informed the participants about the registration process for homestay. Resource persons, Nyuretho, sr. tourist officer, Zunheboto and Kejaroko Peiru, vice president, NTA gave powerpoint on Tourism prospects, opportunities and techniques.
