Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) inspected the ongoing road construction works from Central Jail Junction, Dimapur to Atu Ghoki (Zubza Bridge) in the presence of the contractor and department officials on January 18.

A press release by WSYF media cell stated that, the road would not only benefit villages and towns along the route but also the Naga public as the road connects the Naga Foothill Road.

Owing to this, WSYF has been putting the construction at top priority with quality workmanship. While the pace of construction was satisfactory, the youth front observed that some portions of completed works had shown traces of damage.

In this regard, WSYF requested the contractor to re-work on the damaged portions as it was learnt that work order was approved only for soiling of the road.

However, the road being an important connectivity road with Naga Foothill Road, WSYF appealed the chief minister to step in to see that the road was metalled for longevity and a smoother ride for public.

WSYF extended gratitude to minister of PHED, Jacob Zhimomi and advisor of Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio for their interest in the road and under whose constituencies, the ongoing construction of the road falls.

Further it requested the two leaders to take up with the government for blacktopping of the road in the interest of the public.

Meanwhile, WSYF stated that there had been reports of elements disturbing the contractor with monetary demands which was viewed seriously by WSYF. Stating that the road construction was for the benefit of Nagas, the youth front urged organisations to desist from monetary demands in connection with the road construction and instead extend their support and cooperation towards early completion of the long awaited project.
