WVI organises consultation on WASH

World Vision India (WVI), organized a one-day consultation on Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in collaboration with Nagaland Development Outreach and PHED Nagaland at Hotel Japfü Kohima, on July 9. 

The event was graced by commissioner and secretary PHED, Maongwati Aier as the special guest.

A press release from WVI stated that, Aier in his speech stressed on convergence of various government departments and civil society organisations to address water crisis across the state. He further emphasized on water conservation and water harvesting and also appreciated the work of WVI in the North East region on water, sanitation and child health. Mahesh Nathan, associate director-WASH, WVI, said that through this consultation, it wanted to draw the attention of multiple stakeholders to focus on water scarcity and evolve multi-sectoral approaches to mitigate water insecurity in the North East states.

The panellists deliberated on WASH in relation to child and maternal health, clean sanitation and hand washing at critical times and innovation in the field of WASH related to schools, hospitals and community both in rural and urban settings.

Panellists included, Dr. Neikhrielie Khiamiao, mission director, NHM Nagaland, Dr. Longri Kichu, state RMNCH+A consultant, UNICEF, B. Nelleyyappan assistant director, School Edcuation Department, Khrolou Lohe, NSDMA and Dr. Anjana Purkayastha sr. director WVI.

Earlier, Samuel Therieh, associate director, PMO Guwahati delivered welcome speech and introduction while Dr. Anjana gave opening remark and L. Kohbung manager WVI Mon gave the closing remark.
