Y Patton at virtual meeting with J P Nadda

State deputy chief minister and BJP Nagaland legislature party leader, Yanthungo Patton, Saturday participated in a virtual meeting of BJP Nagaland office bearers with BJP national president JP Nadda national general secretary Ram Madhav and exchanged views on different issues pertaining to the nation, the state, and the party.

A press release by deputy CMO media cell stated that, during the virtual meeting, Patton highlighted some of the important welfare schemes and developmental activities being undertaken by the present PDA government under chief minister, Neiphiu-Rioji with the support of central government under prime minister Narendra Modi.

On the Home department front, Patton spoke about the establishment of Women Police Stations in all the districts in addition to the already existing ones in Kohima, Dimapur and Kiphire have been approved and made functional in investigating all crimes involving women. 

He also mentioned that on law and order situation in Nagaland, the chief minister holds state Level Security Coordination (SLSC) meeting every month to discuss the overall law and order issues in the state. This meeting is attended by the deputy chief minister (Home), chief secretary, DGP, Home department and all the central agencies and Para Military forces like SIB, IG (AR) and CRPF. 

As far as Nagaland Police was concerned, Patton informed that Anti-Extortion Cells have been set up in all 11 districts to tackle the menace of extortions, while great strides has been made in enhancing technical capabilities to fight Cyber-Crimes in the state. Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children Lab cum Training Centre has also been made operational, he added.

Patton said that department of Health & Family Welfare was faced with the unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic but has been able to manage the situation with the prompt and considerate help and assistance of the central government. He gave the present status of COVID-19 in Nagaland which has positive case 1239, active 701, recovered 537 and Dead – 1 till date.

He also informed that state has designated and notified all district hospitals, NHAK, AYUSH hospital Chedema and TB Hospital Mokokchung as COVID Hospitals and has set up ICU in all the district hospitals and 86 ventilators have been distributed to these hospitals. 

He gave the statistics of 261 designated quarantine centers with 14,753 beds capacity and 28 quarantine centers for frontline workers on COVID duty with 521 beds capacity. Covid Care Centers are being set up and more would be added through conversion of some quarantine centers to keep positive patients who were asymptomatic and isolation wards also to be created in the District Hospitals, he informed. To facilitate secondary and tertiary care including surgical procedures, Patton said that private hospitals have been empanelled under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY to provide cashless services to the beneficiaries.

Coming to the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP), Patton informed that the state government provides an additional ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakhs to this scheme which provides Rs. 50 lakhs accident insurance scheme cover for loss of life due to COVID-19 and accidental death on account of COVID-19 related duty.

Patton also highlighted that department of Civil Supplies have successfully implemented the two new schemes rolled out by the Ministry (GOI) during COVID-19 pandemic through PMGKY and Atma Nirbhar Bharat Scheme (ANBS) for distribution of free rice to every household for two months (May and June 2020) exclusively for stranded migrants.
