Y. Patton seeks DoNER ministry’s help in setting up police academy

Nagaland deputy chief minister (Dy CM) and BJP Legislative Party (BLP) leader Y Patton has sought the help of development of North-eastern region (DoNER) ministry in setting up a Police Officers’ Training College or a Police Academy in Nagaland to impart quality training to police officers. 

Meeting Union minister of state (MoS) for DoNER, independent charge, Dr Jitendra Singh at his office in Parliament House in New Delhi on Monday, Patton said the college would have all modern amenities to equip the police officers in dealing with cybercrime. He stressed that, if established, the State government would be able to train its police officers and officers from other North-eastern States,  besides IPS officers, and impart them a holistic modernised trainings on maintaining law and order. 

The Dy CM also implored upon the MoS to release Central assistance for rebuilding infrastructure that were totally washed away and damaged by floods in 2017. 

During the course of discussion, Singh assured to extend all possible help and grants to the State.

Patton thanked the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and DoNER minister for agreeing to fund 100% the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme.
