YHVB Citizens’ Forum celebrates golden jubilee

Yongnyah Hongnyiu Village Buhu (YHVB) Citizens’ Forum under Longleng district celebrated its golden jubilee under the theme, “For our native village”, from December 28 to 29 with B.S. Nganlang, MLA & chairman DPDB as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, B.S. Nganlang stressed on the need for the villagers to come together like one big family and sort out all the differences for a better tomorrow. He lauded the founding members of Yongnyah Hongnyiu Buhu (Citizens’ Forum) for their bright vision and tireless effort in uniting the people of the village. He also encouraged the younger generation to do research and keep a record of all the traditional and cultural values.

The first day began with tribute to late S. Bangjak Phom, the founding president of Yongnyah Hongnyiu Buhu (Citizens’ Forum), who had rendered his entire life for the welfare of the village and community at large. Later, there was showcasing of different traditional log drum beats of all the five morungs in the village began with Bangnyei Phom, JE, R.D Block Jalukie, as the special guest. Youths of different morungs displayed their rich cultural and traditional practices with their much enthusiasm.

Other main speakers for the various sessions were Rev. Fr. Charles Ongdok, dean of studies, Good Shepherd Seminary, Dimapur, H. Mongngoi, pastor, Longleng Town Baptist Church (LTBC) and Rev. D. Vangpong, general secretary Nagaland Christian Revival Church (NCRC).

On behalf of Yongnyah Hongnyu Buhu (Citizens’ Forum) and jubilee planning, chairman Ongnyei Phom and convener P. Bongshak, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all the citizens of the village for their support and co-operation in successfully organizing the golden jubilee.
