A first ever two day “Cultural Fest” program was organized by Yimchungrü Baptist Borü Chumukedima (YBBC) Youth department on July 14 and 15, under the theme ‘My Culture My Identity’.
IGP (CID) Nagaland, Richard Yimto, was the theme speaker at the event. Addressing the gathering, he urged the youth to uphold and preserve their own cultures and traditional values in order to keep them alive.
Yimto pointed out that “the loss of culture is the loss of identity” because, he said, without culture a people cannot claim their identity.
He also urged the youth to respect the culture and traditions which have survived for the generations. Highlights of the two day cultural fest program were, ‘Berupuhru jimtsah wukhi khun’ performed by 7th Mile colony youth cell, ‘Alaru khun’ by Church colony cell group, ‘Berupuhru ki neak de bin khi khun’ by Kikhruruzha colony cell group, ‘Khiungmongru mushi jih khun’ by Dieze colony cell group. A talk on the importance and significance of culture and tradition was delivered by youth associate pastor, K. Ningtsa.
The first session was chaired by Tsurila Y and Hankiu PET, while the opening ceremony program was led by Ayan. The second session was presided over by N. Lemchimong YBM.
